The publication of my tenth novel with Hachette Books Ireland was always going to be special. It seemed no length of time since I’d signed on the dotted line for books 1+2. All of a sudden, here I was, ten books and a whole decade later.
Writing has enriched my life in ways I never anticipated. Each novel is standalone, which means those ten novels feature a variety of different worlds peopled with diverse characters, and a wide variety of life issues set against different backdrops and locations. Stepping into other peoples’ shoes and seeing what’s going on in their heart of hearts, even if imaginary, can be wonderfully cathartic. The distance from the first blank page to a 100K word document is a scary mountain to climb yet marvellously fulfilling. Holding each and every one of those finished and beautifully covered books in my hand have been milestone moments.
But without doubt, one of the best and most joyful experiences to come out of these years has been the unstinting love and support I’ve received within my circle of family and friends, who consistently have my back. Another fantastic gift has been the friendship and encouragement of wonderful people I’ve met along the way who work to enhance our lives; passionate people in the industry, other dedicated writers and committed creatives, not forgetting book bloggers and readers.
It was only right to celebrate this milestone with a look launch, and it was a wonderful occasion. Signing day, when I had the pleasure of visiting book stores in the run up to Christmas and meeting lovely people, was another gold-star day.
Hearing good things from satisfied readers is one of the best rewards of all.
Thank you, Zoë xx
